ZEPHYRHILLS, Fla. – Zephyrhills High School briefly operated under heightened security this morning due to a social media threat. The Pasco Sheriff’s Office investigated and arrested a 17-year-old student for making written threats to kill.
The threats originated off-campus, and authorities confirmed there was never any direct danger to the school.
Normal operations have resumed, although an increased law enforcement presence remains on campus as a precaution.
The Pasco Sheriff’s Office emphasizes the importance of reporting threats and rumors to law enforcement immediately, rather than sharing them, and encourages parents to discuss the serious consequences of making threats with their children.
