HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla.- The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a youth counselor at A Kid’s Place of Tampa Bay for allegedly engaging in sexual acts with a minor resident.

Katherine Sticklin, 28, was arrested on September 11, 2024, following an investigation by the Special Victims Section. The investigation began after a foster child at the group home reported that Sticklin had initiated inappropriate contact with him on Snapchat, sending explicit images and discussing sexual acts.

Despite being blocked on social media, Sticklin continued to pressure the minor into sexual activity. She even entered the shared men’s bathroom while he was alone and performed sexual acts on him.

Detectives were able to verify the allegations and arrested Sticklin. She faces charges of Lewd or Lascivious Touching of a Minor 16 or 17 Years of Age By a Person 24 Years of Age or Older and Unlawful Sexual Activity with a Minor.

“The crimes committed by this woman are vile and cruel,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “She should be ashamed of taking advantage of someone she was trusted to care for and mentor. I hope he is able to begin healing knowing this woman is behind bars.”
