TAMPA, Fla.- Late Saturday night, the suspect and victim, both known to each other, got into a physical altercation which escalated when the suspect produced a knife and stabbed the victim before fleeing the scene. The victim, a 35-year old male, was pronounced dead by Tampa Fire Rescue.
Detectives immediately began developing leads to positively identify and apprehend the suspect, Andy Flores-Tello 20, from Tampa.
One witness said they have known the defendant and the victim for about six months, as they all live together in the same residence. The witness described hearing the defendant yell in Spanish, “you’re not my dad, I’ll kill you!”, then saw the victim running from the defendant, while the defendant was armed with a kitchen knife in his right hand.
According to the police report the victim turned around to take a fighting stance to attempt to defend himself, when the defendant stabbed him with the kitchen knife.
Flores-Tello was located within hours in the area of N. Armenia Ave and W. Tampa Bay Boulevard. He was arrested without incident and transported to Hillsborough County Jail, charged with First Degree Murder.
