The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) has updated its Panther Pulse webpage with new mortality information, reporting the death of a young Florida panther.
The remains of a 4-5-month-old male Florida panther (UCFP483) were collected on March 28, 2025, in Hendry County. The suspected cause of death was ‘intraspecific aggression,’ meaning the panther likely died from a fight with another panther.

The FWC notes that biologists gather important data from examining panther remains. The public is encouraged to report any injured or dead panthers to the FWC Wildlife Alert Hotline at 888-404-FWCC (3922).
The FWC also reminds Florida residents that they can support panther conservation by purchasing a “Protect the Panther” license plate.
Funds from the sales of these license plates are the primary source of funding for the FWC’s research and management of Florida panthers.
