MONROE COUNTY, Fla. – A Big Pine Key man already in jail on drug charges is now facing a homicide charge in connection with a fatal overdose that occurred last year.

47-year-old Louis Van De GeJuchte was arrested on Friday for his alleged role in the September 14th, 2024, death of 45-year-old Mariah Goldsberry of Big Pine Key.

Detectives with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Division identified Van De GeJuchte as the source of the drugs that led to Goldsberry’s overdose.

Van De GeJuchte was already in custody at the Monroe County Jail following a September 18th, 2024, arrest for possession of methamphetamines and a controlled substance.

This arrest is part of an ongoing effort by the Sheriff’s Office to hold drug dealers accountable for overdose deaths in the community.

“The message is clear: If you sell deadly drugs in our community and someone dies as a result of those activities, you will be held accountable,” said Sheriff Rick Ramsay.
