TAMPA, Fla. – For the third consecutive year, the Yerrid Foundation is partnering with Rise Tampa and the Our Police Foundation to offer a free fishing clinic to over 100 Tampa children.
The clinic, scheduled for Saturday, June 15th at Picnic Island, aims to teach kids valuable fishing skills while fostering positive relationships with local law enforcement.
Tampa Mayor Jane Castor, Tampa Police Department Major Brett Owen, and Captain Sergio Atanes, along with other Tampa Police Officers and top fishing captains, will be on hand to educate the young participants on fishing rules and techniques.

Tampa Police Chief Lee Bercaw expressed his gratitude for the Yerrid Foundation’s continued support in initiatives that keep children safe and build trust within the community.
“We are incredibly grateful for the Yerrid Foundation’s continued support in keeping our kids safe,” said Tampa Police Chief Lee Bercaw. “These partnerships are what make our city safer and help build trust between our officers and the community’s youth.”
In addition to learning essential fishing skills, the clinic provides a fun, educational experience for children, offering a break from technology while fostering mentorship opportunities. Each child will receive a free rod and reel combo to continue practicing their newfound skills.

The Yerrid Foundation’s generosity also extends to supporting the Tampa Police Department’s RICH House program, which provides resources and safe spaces for children in the city. Each RICH House location is run by a Tampa Police Officer who serves as a positive role model and mentor for the youth.
This annual fishing clinic exemplifies the power of community partnerships in creating positive experiences for children and fostering trust between law enforcement and the community.
