A Wyoming man has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the kidnapping and murder of a woman whose remains were discovered in Douglas County, Colorado.
Casey Childers, 41, was found guilty by a jury in July of first-degree murder, second-degree kidnapping, and conspiracy charges in the death of Rachel Holeman, 29.
Holeman, a Montana resident, was reported missing in Fort Collins, Colorado, in November 2021. Her remains were located in a remote area of Douglas County in December 2021.

Investigators revealed that Childers, along with Shantel Edlund, 46, and Leo Vanbuskirk, 23, both from Wyoming, conspired to kidnap and kill Holeman. The trio was apprehended in Wyoming in December 2021 on unrelated charges.
District Attorney John Kellner described the crime as “deliberate, calculated, and cruel.” He commended the collaborative efforts of multiple law enforcement agencies in bringing Childers to justice.
