The chaos unfolded in Martin County, Florida, on I-95 northbound near mile marker 108, when a driver, traveling southbound in the northbound lanes triggered a series of collisions. The northbound lanes of I-95 were completely shut down for several hours as emergency crews responded to the scene and investigators worked to piece together the events leading up to the tragedy. The highway has since reopened.
The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) has taken over the investigation and will release further details as they become available.
