A California woman, 40-year-old Courtney Perrone, was arrested in Santa Monica on August 21st after allegedly attempting to kidnap an 8-year-old child.
Perrone, who falsely claimed to be Russian police, reportedly brandished a switchblade knife during the incident.

According to witnesses, the child was assisting a neighbor with their pets when Perrone approached, claiming to be Russian police and attempting to take the child. A struggle ensued, during which Perrone allegedly brandished a switchblade knife. She fled on foot but was later apprehended by police in a nearby parking lot.
Perrone, who appears to be homeless and living out of her vehicle, has a history of arrests and outstanding warrants in multiple states. This incident marks her first contact with the Santa Monica Police Department.

She is facing felony charges of attempted kidnapping and false imprisonment, as well as a misdemeanor charge of brandishing a weapon. Her arraignment is scheduled for August 23rd.
