LARGO, Fla. – A routine request at a Largo smoke shop turned violent on Monday, resulting in the stabbing of a store clerk and the arrest of a 22-year-old woman on attempted murder charges, police said.

The Largo Police Department received a call just before noon on Monday, April 14, 2025, reporting a stabbing incident at the Smoke Shop located at 14111 Belcher Road.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a dramatic scene: the victim, Dafir Mohamed Mohamed Dalek, and a good samaritan were actively holding down the alleged assailant, later identified as Yesenia Sofia Gonzalez-Aleaga.

Once Gonzalez-Aleaga was safely taken into custody, officers immediately began administering first aid to Mr. Dalek. Paramedics soon arrived and transported him to an area hospital to be treated for serious injuries sustained in the attack.

According to investigators who reviewed the store’s surveillance footage, the incident unfolded rapidly. Police say the footage shows Gonzalez-Aleaga entering the store and asking Mr. Dalek for a product located on a lower shelf. As the clerk bent down to retrieve the item, Gonzalez-Aleaga allegedly produced a knife from her purse and proceeded to stab him multiple times.

Yesenia Sofia Gonzalez-Aleaga has been arrested and charged with Attempted Murder in the First Degree.
