A woman has been arrested and charged with homicide by child abuse after allegedly stabbing her newborn to death shortly after giving birth in her apartment.
According to Easley Police Chief Brandon Liner, the incident occurred on Friday, March 7th, at approximately 8:20 p.m. Pickens County Emergency Medical Services requested police assistance at an apartment on Nations Way.

Upon arrival, officers found a newborn with severe injuries. They attempted to assist EMS in reviving the child, but their efforts were unsuccessful, and the newborn was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators say that An Ngo had given birth inside the apartment and that she was the individual who had allegedly murdered the child.
Investigators obtained search warrants and, subsequently, an arrest warrant for Ngo. She was taken into custody on charges of homicide by child abuse, which carries a potential sentence of 20 years to life in prison.

According to an arrest report cited by WHNS-TV, Ngo allegedly “repeatedly stabbed him with a long metal letter opener.”
Chief Liner expressed the severity of the crime, stating during a news conference, “I’ve been doing this for two and a half decades and I’ve never seen anything this gruesome. I’ve never seen anything this bad.”
“We will speak for this baby,” Liner said. “We will make sure that this baby will receive justice. It didn’t have a chance at life. Not long.”
