With the help of workers in 13 other states, Florida municipal utilities have restored electricity to virtually all customers who lost power in Hurricane Idalia, the Florida Municipal Electric Association said late Friday morning.
“Within 48 hours of powerful Category 3 Hurricane Idalia making an unprecedented landfall in Florida’s Big Bend Region, Florida public power utilities have essentially restored power to all its customers impacted from Idalia,” Amy Zubaly, the association’s executive director, said in a prepared statement.
“More than 99.99 percent of all Florida public power customers now have electricity.”

The statement said more than 360 workers from 58 utilities in Florida and 13 other states took part in the restoration efforts. Hurricane Idalia made landfall Wednesday in Taylor County’s Keaton Beach area before plowing through parts of North Florida into Georgia.
Among municipal utilities that had outages were the Tallahassee city utility.
