Wisconsin voter Eric Jones told CNN Friday that he hasn’t seen any changes in the Democratic Party’s strategy just weeks before the state’s pivotal Supreme Court election.

With the Wisconsin State Supreme Court election set for April 1, conservative Waukesha County Judge Brad Schimel is closely trailing liberal opponent Dane County Judge Susan Crawford, by 48% to 43%, according to a polling memo from Elon Musk’s Building America’s Future group. While speaking with locals about the Democrat Party’s efforts in the swing state, CNN’s John King was seen sitting with Jones at a barbershop.

Jones told the outlet months before last November’s election that President Donald Trump “was running stronger among black men,” which ultimately cost Democrats part of their key voting bloc.

“Are you getting things from the Democrats that you say, ‘OK this is smarter than they were last year?’ You see anything out there?” King asked.

“No, no I don’t,” Jones said.

Just a month before the 2024 election, former Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign enlisted former President Barack Obama to join the campaign trail, amid reports that her support among both black and Hispanic males was waning. While Obama had once been a favorite among Democrats, the former president faced some pushback after urging black men to vote for Harris.

King then mentioned how Jones expressed his concerns over Musk’s involvement in the race.

“Any political campaign is essentially an information war. And any war needs a budget. The guy with the biggest budget tends to win,” Jones said.

America PAC, a political action committee founded by Musk, announced on X Thursday that it will offer $100 to Wisconsin registered voters for signing a petition against “activist judges” and reward $100 for each signer a voter refers.

“Judges should interpret laws as written, not rewrite them to fit their personal or political agendas,” the flyer states. “By signing below, I’m rejecting the actions of activist judges who impose their own views and demanding a judiciary that respects its role—interpreting, not legislating.”

“Evenly balanced court, whether it’s abortion rights or drawn maps, voting rights, huge issues. Do people care?” King asked.

“No, I don’t think so,” Jones said. “Now, the reason I say this is because I’ve asked a good amount of people about it. It’s bad when you don’t know the candidates.”

According to Reuters’ 2024 election exit polls, Harris won 77% of the black male vote, while Trump pulled 21%, which was a 2% increase from 2020. Additionally, among Hispanic men, Trump led Harris 54% to 44%, gaining 18 points from 2020.
