A Wisconsin teen is facing several charges after he allegedly murdered his mother and stepfather, keeping their bodies inside the home for two weeks.
Nikita Casap, 17, made a court appearance Thursday where he faced two counts of first-degree intentional homicide, two counts of hiding a corpse, theft of property over $10,000, and two counts of misappropriation of identification to obtain money, according to the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department (WCSD).
Officials were called to conduct a welfare check on Feb. 28 at a home in Waukesha, the WCSD said. Upon arrival, officials found two people deceased inside the home, who were later identified as 35-year-old Tatiana Casap and 51-year-old Donald Mayer.

On March 1, the sheriff’s office said a person of interest had been detained on separate charges. It was later revealed Casap had been charged for theft and allegedly operating a motor vehicle without the owner’s permission.
Casap was detained on March 1 after a traffic stop conducted by officials with the WaKeeney Police Department in Kansas, over 800 miles away from his home in Wisconsin. He was allegedly armed with a handgun and taken into custody, officials said on Facebook.
WaKeeney officials later learned the teen was wanted out of Wisconsin and said that he “did have items in the vehicle that were consistent with the information we had received from the Wisconsin sheriff’s office.”

A criminal complaint obtained by NBC News said Casap hadn’t attended school for two weeks and that there were no excused absences provided to the school. Some of the items found in the car included Mayer’s Smith & Wesson .357 Magnum, shell casings, and Mayer’s driver’s license, the outlet reported, citing the criminal complaint.
District Attorney Lesli Boese said the teen allegedly shot his mother three times and his stepfather once on Feb. 11, TMJ4 reported. The teen reportedly went to school the day after and supposedly lived in the home for about two weeks.
“The defendant continued to live at the residence with the two bodies at the house. He then fled with the $14,000 in cash,” Boese reportedly said. “We know he was communicating with someone to get fake plates put on the car to hide the car was stolen.”
The teen allegedly drove his stepfather’s vehicle across several states beginning on Feb. 24.

Authorities alleged the teen filmed a video of himself lighting candles in the office where Mayer’s body was found. He also allegedly filmed his body a week after his death, TMJ4 reported.
Casap has a preliminary hearing scheduled for April 9, per NBC.
