WESLEY CHAPEL, Fla. – In an update to the recent social media threats targeting Wiregrass Ranch High School, the Pasco Sheriff’s Office has apprehended a student in connection with the incident. The student faces charges of written threats to kill and unlawful use of a two-way communication device.
The authorities have assured the public that there is no longer any threat to the school, and all schools in the area have returned to their normal schedules.
“PSO once again urges parents and guardians to speak with their children about the consequences of making threats and the dangers of sharing threats and rumors instead of reporting them immediately to law enforcement,” said Pasco Sheriff’s Office.
Previous Reporting: Wiregrass Ranch High School and nearby schools were placed on alert campus status earlier today as a precaution while deputies investigated a threat made on social media towards the school.
The individual responsible for the threat has been identified, and there is no current danger to any school. Normal operations have resumed. The investigation remains ongoing.
