WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – A morning mobile home fire in Winter Haven has taken the life of one person and left one in critical condition.
At 7:19 a.m., Winter Haven Fire was called to a mobile home on Lake Henry Dr. where the home was found with flames shooting out of the front of the home.
A neighbor had heard what sounded like an explosion and went out to investigate. The neighbor went to the home and saw flames inside. The neighbor called for help and immediately entered the residence and located an elderly male on the floor.
The neighbor was able to pull the male out and tried to return to rescue a female who was still located inside. Unfortunately, the neighbor was unable to make it through the smoke and flames to the female inside.

Winter Haven Fire and Winter Haven Police arrived at the residence within 4 minutes of the initial call. Firefighters immediately entered the home as additional firefighters began battling the fire. Firefighters located the elderly woman inside, but she was already deceased. The fire was extinguished within five minutes of arrival.
The Winter Haven Fire Marshal arrived and is investigating the origin of the fire. At this time, it does not appear to be suspicious.
