WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – A Winter Haven man recently released from jail is back in custody after being arrested on outstanding felony warrants Friday evening.

Axel Mascorro-Taylor, 24, was taken into custody by Polk County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) deputies around 9:45 PM on Friday at the Shipp Side Mobile Home Park in Winter Haven.

Deputies located Mascorro-Taylor, who had two active Polk County warrants: one for Robbery by Sudden Snatching, a felony, and another for Battery with a Prior Conviction, also a felony.

According to the PCSO, the charges originated from an incident where Mascorro-Taylor allegedly took a victim’s cell phone and subsequently kicked the victim in the face. Due to a previous battery conviction on his record, the current battery charge was enhanced to a felony.

The arrest occurred without incident. Officials noted that Mascorro-Taylor’s arrest comes less than a month after he was released from the Polk County Jail, where he had previously been incarcerated for approximately three months.
