WINTER HAVEN, FL. – A 28-year-old Winter Haven man has been charged with first-degree murder after a confrontation Saturday.
On Saturday, May 7, 2022, at approximately 11 a.m., Winter Haven Police responded to the Abbey Lane Apartments, where a male victim was discovered lying on the ground injured from apparent gunshot wounds.
Police say that life-saving measures were given, and the victim was transported to Winter Haven Health where he was pronounced deceased.
Officers contacted 28-year-old Christopher Edward Hill, Jr., and he stated that he had been involved in a shooting.
Hill claimed he was in fear during an altercation with another male at his former girlfriend’s apartment. Hill was at the location to pick up his children he shares with the woman.
Witnesses in the area told officers they saw Hill running after the victim while firing a handgun.
Hill was arrested and booked into the Polk County Jail charged with First Degree Murder.
As per Marsy’s Law, the victim is not being identified.
