WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – Due to the current and forecasted weather conditions, the City of Winter Haven Fire Department will join Polk County Fire Rescue in issuing a burn ban to prohibit any open burning until further notice.

Conditions are dry, and windy, with low relative humidity, setting the stage for fire to spread quickly.

The Florida Forest Service is the state agency responsible for wildfire prevention and suppression. The Forest Service has a number of programs in place to help prevent wildfires, such as the Wildland Fire Prevention Program and the Urban Forest Fire Protection Program.
