Conservative commentator Glenn Beck pointed out this week that liberals’ response to awful policy decisions and outcomes is to simply redefine them.
“Under [President Joe] Biden alone, the Left has tried to redefine woman, fetus, domestic terrorist, insurrection, voter suppression, illegal alien, anti-police, and now recession,” Beck tweeted. “What a strategy! When you lose an argument, just change the DICTIONARY!”
On Friday, the Biden administration added to this list in attempting to rewrite reality right before our very eyes.
Biden had once promised to not build “another foot” of former President Donald Trump’s wall along the southern border. One of Biden’s first acts upon taking office was to halt construction and funding of the project, calling it part of Trump’s “xenophobic” and “racist” border policy.
Now, however, after a massive influx of millions of immigrants, that even has Democrats in places like Texas and Arizona turning on Biden, Biden has approved finishing the wall.
Fox News reported on Friday that Biden is “filling four major gaps in the wall that continue to allow the Yuma [Arizona] area to be one of the busiest corridors for illegal immigration crossings.”

Biden appears to be heeding some voice callsign for securing the border, including Democratic Sen. Mark Kelly of Arizona who faces a tough re-election challenge.
Yet on Friday, a Biden spokeswoman said Biden finishing the wall in Arizona does not mean that Biden is building a wall.
“We’re not finishing the wall,” press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre replied when Fox News reporter Peter Doocy asked why Biden was building the wall.
“We are cleaning up the mess the prior administration left behind in their failed attempt to build a wall.”
Doocy tried again, asking what had changed since Biden promised not “another foot” of wall construction.
“We are not finishing the wall,” Jean-Pierre answered.
Doocy tried a third time, asking that if by finishing the Arizona wall, Biden wanted illegals to head to Texas.
“We are not finishing a wall. We are cleaning up the mess the prior administration made. We are trying to save lives. This is what the prior administration left behind that we are now cleaning up,” Jean-Pierre replied.
When Doocy pressed further, she answered twice more “We are not finishing the wall.”
We eagerly await the “fact-checkers” explaining how building and installing sections of a wall to shut down gaps is not “finishing the wall.”

At least Jean-Pierre has the messaging down, even if it is untruthful and in conflict with obvious reality.
But Sen. Kelly has no misconceptions about what Biden is doing. He issued a statement this week praising the decision.
“For too long, the Morelos Dam area has been an operational challenge for Border Patrol agents to properly secure the border and keep our communities safe,” said Kelly.
“I’m glad that the Department of Homeland Security has listened to Arizona and is going to close these gaps. This is a step forward and I’ll keep working to ensure that Arizona has the tools needed for a secure and orderly process at the border including fencing and barriers where they make sense.”
