White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller said Thursday that President Donald Trump’s immigration policies have saved thousands of lives by preventing criminals, potential terrorists, and security threats from entering the United States over the past three weeks.

Miller’s remarks came during a spirited defense of the administration’s efforts to curb illegal immigration and enhance national security.

“President Trump has already saved thousands of lives just by the people he has kept out of the country these last three weeks,” Miller stated. “Do you have any idea how many criminals, how many potential terrorists, how many security threats have been blocked, denied, prevented, and deterred from even trying to enter the country? A 95% reduction in illegal crossings.”

Miller emphasized the impact of Trump’s policies on public safety, arguing that the administration’s stringent immigration measures have made communities across the nation safer. “There are mothers all over this country who will sleep safely tonight because of what Donald Trump has done,” he said.

The comments come amid ongoing debates over immigration policy and public safety, with the Trump administration frequently clashing with Democratic leaders over their approaches to law enforcement and border security. Miller took aim at prominent Democratic figures, including California Governor Gavin Newsom and New York Governor Kathy Hochul, accusing them of fostering “chaos and bloodshed” in their states.

“The American people voted for safety and security, not the chaos and bloodshed of Gavin Newsom, Kathy Hochul, and all of these blue-state governors and blue-state mayors who have forced their people to live in violence and misery,” Miller said.

The Trump administration has long championed stricter immigration controls as a cornerstone of its agenda, citing national security and public safety as key priorities.

U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi announced Wednesday that the Department of Justice (DOJ) has filed lawsuits against the state of New York and several of its officials for failing to comply with federal immigration laws. The lawsuits mark the latest escalation in the Trump administration’s efforts to hold states and cities accountable for policies that it claims prioritize illegal immigrants over the safety of American citizens.

During a press conference, Bondi outlined the administration’s legal actions, which target New York Governor Kathy Hochul, Attorney General Letitia James, and Mark Schroeder, Commissioner of the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV).

Bondi accused New York of enacting policies that shield illegal immigrants from federal law enforcement, creating what she described as a dangerous environment for American citizens.

“New York has chosen to prioritize illegal aliens over American citizens. It stops today,” Bondi declared. “Millions of illegal aliens with violent records have flooded into our communities, bringing violence and deadly drugs with them.”

The lawsuits follow similar actions taken against Illinois, which the DOJ sued earlier this year for its sanctuary policies. Bondi warned that other states defying federal immigration laws would face similar consequences.

“If you are a state not complying with federal law, you’re next. Get ready,” Bondi said.
