The recent Gaza hospital blast has sparked a wave of conflicting claims and information. The White House, in its intelligence assessment, stated that Israel was not responsible for the missile strike.

The aftermath of the Gaza hospital blast has seen a flurry of accusations and counter-accusations.

Officials in Gaza and some major media outlets were quick to blame an Israeli airstrike for the explosion as Israel vehemently denied its involvement and presented evidence suggesting that the blast was a result of a missile misfire by the militant group Islamic Jihad.

The Islamic Jihad, however, dismissed this claim.

The White House, through a current intelligence assessment, declared that Israel was “not responsible” for the hospital blast.

National Security Council spokesperson, Adrienne Watson, stated that the assessment was based on the analysis of overhead imagery, intercepts, and open-source information.

President Joe Biden also conveyed this information to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, expressing that it appeared as though the blast was caused by the “other team” and not Israel.

The Gaza Strip, already grappling with dire humanitarian conditions, was further devastated by the hospital blast.

However, President Biden announced that Israel had agreed to allow humanitarian assistance to enter Gaza from Egypt. This assistance was subject to inspections and aimed to reach civilians, not Hamas militants. The resumption of aid was a critical step towards addressing the growing humanitarian crisis in the region.

Biden also announced an additional $100 million in assistance for Gaza and the West Bank.

The United States, firmly standing behind Israel, reiterated its commitment to work with regional partners to prevent further tragedies and protect innocent civilians. However, Biden warned that if Hamas were to divert or steal the assistance, it would demonstrate their disregard for the welfare of the Palestinian people.

President Biden’s visit to the region, aimed at showing support for Israel, took on a somber tone due to the hospital blast.
