The IRS picked the day a bombshell report was released outlining how liberals weaponized the federal government to attempt to destroy Donald Trump to fire its agents who were pursuing Hunter Biden for possible tax evasion.

According to The Washington Examiner, the IRS axed the entire team that was looking into President Joe Biden’s son for lying about his income taxes.

The push to dump the IRS agents did not come from the agency itself, but rather from the FBI.

As it happened, Special Counsel John Durham also released his long-awaited report showing how the FBI pursued the Russia-collusion hoax on phony information cooked up by Hillary Clinton’s campaign.

Among his findings, Durham noted the information collected by the FBI was so shoddy that its investigation into Trump should never have been opened.

In a letter to Congress, lawyers Tristan Leavitt and Mark Lytle, who represent the agent leading the IRS team investigating Hunter Biden, called the firing “clearly retaliatory.”

The agent had come forward last month seeking whistleblower protection from Congress in exchange for providing information about Hunter Biden, the Examiner reported.

In their letter, Leavitt and Lytle added, “Any attempt by any government official to prevent a federal employee from furnishing information to Congress is also a direct violation of longstanding appropriations restriction. Furthermore, [federal law] makes it a crime to obstruct an investigation of Congress.”

“Removing the experienced investigators who have worked this case for years and are now the subject-matter experts is exactly the sort of issue our client intended to blow the whistle on to begin with,” the lawyers said in the letter.

The New York Post noted that in the letter, the lawyers pointed out that just three weeks ago, IRS Commissioner Daniel Werfel told the House Ways and Means Committee that “there will be no retaliation for anyone making an allegation or a call to a whistleblower hotline.’”

“However, this move is clearly retaliatory and may also constitute obstruction of a congressional inquiry,” the lawyers added.

The news also surfaces just days after House Republicans revealed that President Joe Biden’s family netted $10 million from sources seeking to gain influence with Biden. That included payments from foreign nations, such as China, and that were made while Biden still served as vice president.
