President Joe Biden’s first 100 days in office have been noteworthy for runaway government spending, excessive race-baiting, COVID confusion, and a general feeling that America is slipping away from its historical and constitutional moorings.
But there is one more devastating feature of the Biden days: Dead cops.
The Free Press recently reported on the case of Jessica Beauvais, a cop-hating New York City radio host who faces manslaughter charges after running over and killing an NYPD officer in a drunk-driving hit-and-run.
But the senseless and avoidable death of Officer Anastasios Tsakos is just one of a spate of cop killings in recent days.
In Biden’s home state, Delaware, Cpl. Keith Heacook was beaten to death by a suspect when responding alone to a call of a fight in a residential area.
In North Carolina, where protesters are demonstrating against the police shooting of a black suspect, two sheriff’s deputies, Sgt. Chris Ward and K-9 Deputy Logan Fox, were killed by a gunman while performing a welfare check at a home. The shooter reportedly shot two other cops and firefighter who tried to render aid to then fallen deputies.
In Arizona this week, a “violent felon,” as police described him, stole a car and fatally struck Officer Christopher Farrar in trying to elude police. Four other law enforcement officers were injured during the pursuit.
Also this week, New Mexico authorities released body-cam footage of an officer exchanging gunfire with a suspected drug dealer in February. The incident occurred after the suspect had murdered a state trooper during a traffic stop.
The National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund, which tracks line-of-duty deaths of law enforcement officials, reports that as of May 1, 95 cops have been killed since Jan. 1.
That’s up 8 percent over the same period last year.
