WESLEY CHAPEL, Fla. – A 78-year-old Wesley Chapel woman died after a car crashed into the ambulance that was transporting her to the hospital on Tuesday.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, a Toyota Corolla, was traveling eastbound on SR-54 toward Morris Bridge Road.
Troopers say a Pasco County Fire Rescue ambulance was traveling southbound on Morris Bridge Road, and at the intersection of the two roadways, the Toyota continued under a green traffic signal but failed to yield to the ambulance operating in emergency mode.

The front of the Toyota collided with the side of the ambulance, according to FHP.
The four EMS personnel in the ambulance were uninjured; however, the female passenger who was receiving emergency care died at an area hospital.
The driver of the Toyota, a 39-year-old Wesley Chapel man, sustained minor injuries in the crash.
