TAMPA, Fla. – A 78-year-old Wesley Chapel man was killed in a motorcycle crash that happened around 9:00 am on Saturday.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, the man was traveling southbound on I-75 when he lost control of the motorcycle.
Troopers say he collided with a barrier wall along the outside shoulder of the highway north of Fletcher Avenue.

According to FHP, the man died at the scene of the crash.
Florida has a high rate of motorcycle accidents. According to the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, there were 8,649 motorcycle crashes in 2021, resulting in 621 fatalities.
This is a rate of 1.9 motorcycle fatalities per 100,000 residents, which is higher than the national average of 1.2 fatalities per 100,000 residents.
