Weeki Wachee Man Killed In Single-Vehicle Crash On SR-50

HERNANDO COUNTY, Fla. – A 23-year-old Weeki Wachee man was killed in a single-vehicle crash on State Road 50 early this morning.

At approximately 12:42 AM, a Toyota Tundra, driven by the man, was traveling westbound on SR-50. West of US-19, the driver failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway.

The vehicle veered onto the north shoulder of the highway, striking a utility pole. It then crossed back over the roadway, entered the south shoulder, and overturned. The driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle during the rollover.

He was transported to an area hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
