Week-Old Crash Discovered In Citrus County; Inverness Woman Killed

CTRUS COUNTY, Fla. – A tragic discovery was made this afternoon in Citrus County, as authorities located the scene of a single-vehicle crash that occurred over a week ago.

According to a preliminary report from the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the incident, which claimed the life of a 67-year-old Inverness woman, happened on Friday, April 18, 2025, at approximately 6:00 PM.

The report indicates that the woman was driving a Chevy Cobalt northbound on County Road 491 (CR-491). South of Triple M Ranch Road when the driver lost control of the vehicle. The Cobalt subsequently left the roadway and collided with a tree.

Tragically, the driver sustained fatal injuries at the scene of the crash.

The wreckage was not discovered until today, Saturday, April 26, 2025, at approximately 3:00 PM. The FHP report does not specify the circumstances surrounding the delayed discovery of the crash scene.

The identity of the deceased woman has not been released.
