Water Quality Advisory Issued For Beaches In Hillsborough County

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – The Florida Department of Health in Hillsborough County (DOH-Hillsborough) has issued a water quality advisory for Simmons Park Beach in Ruskin and Davis Islands Beach in Tampa.

Water samples collected on Wednesday, November 20th, revealed elevated levels of Enterococcus bacteria, exceeding the state’s recreational water quality standards.

Exposure to Enterococcus bacteria can cause gastrointestinal issues, infections, and other health problems. The advisory will remain in effect until bacteria levels return to acceptable levels.

DOH-Hillsborough will continue to monitor water quality at Simmons Park Beach and other locations.
