There are so many negative stories that we report each and every day because the public needs to know. But every now and then, a story from the great state of Florida catches our eye and we want to share with our audience.
Today’s story and video come out of the Daytona Beach Police department where the police chief was on a patrol and saw something that didn’t look quite right.
“During the final weekend of Bike Week, I was driving around the city when I spotted a man going through a dumpster. I decided to check it out. What I found was a family down on their luck. The man was going through the dumpster in hopes of finding some toys for his kids, one of whom has a birthday coming up,” said Daytona Beach Police Chief Jakari Young.
“With the help of Patrol Officer Sean Wagner and Patrol Captain Trisha Loomis, we took the family to our Valor Boulevard headquarters, where the kids got some toys we keep in reserve along with some much-needed school supplies. These are the moments which makes being a police officer worth it,” Chief Jakari Young.
“For those of you who reached out wanting to do donations… we will accept new and gently used toys and clothing of all kinds. For more information or to arrange a drop-off, you can email YoungTancye@DBPD.us,” said DBPD in a social post.
