Every time liberals criticize conservatives for engaging in the culture wars, such as adopting Florida’s Parental Rights in Education bill, one of their own demonstrates why such brawls, and laws, are necessary.
Casey Anderson, a chemistry teacher at Anacortes High School in Washington state, provided this example.
Seattle-based conservative talk-show host Jason Rantz broke the story Thursday of Anderson, tweeting she “used vaseline and a cat-shaped tissue dispenser to make a sex joke to kids.”
“She’s been formally reprimanded by the district,” Rantz added.
On her own Facebook page on March 5, Anderson wrote, “So in my room I have a cat butt tissue dispenser. Currently, the dispenser is out of tissues. A student noticed this and asked, ‘how do you refill it?’ I paused for a moment, then tell my class ‘I turn down the lights, then put on some soft music and use a LOT of vaseline.”
“I may have them retrieved (sic) a big container of petroleum jelly I had in my closet (for … reasons …) and placed it right by the cat. Class took a turn after that,” she added. A photo of the cat dispenser accompanied the post.
It’s unclear exactly what “turn” the class took. But Rantz reported that the school district acknowledged that Anderson admitted discussing anal sex with her students.
The school district told Rantz that Anderson, who was described as the school’s Gay and Sexualities Alliance club adviser, had been “formally reprimanded,” and that her behavior was “unacceptable” and “not tolerated” by the district.
Rantz added that he could not confirm some of what he heard, but said others had emailed him that this was not the first time this teacher made sexual references to her class.
Later on Thursday, he produced another example.
He tweeted a photo that she had posted on social media. It featured an apparently embroidered banner that said “Making Your Kids Queer Since 2020,” framed by a borde of the Pride flag colors and including flag symbols of the LGBTQ lobby.
According to Rantz, a district spokesperson told him that “my understanding is that it appeared on Ms. Anderson’s personal Facebook page, and never in her classroom, nor on any school district-related accounts.”
Rantz then followed with another tweet that said parents contacted him and said they had complained about Anderson “oversharing details about her gender transition.”
The school district replied that incident was investigated and “found to be unfounded and likely the result of student hearsay.”
Among the replies to Rantz’s tweets was one from the conservative account Libs of Tik Tok, who wrote, “Hi @AnacortesSchool, I’m confused because you say this behavior isn’t tolerated but then you go ahead and tolerate it. Can you explain?”
The district may not have explained that. But the district superintendent said the reprimand was sufficient.
Superintendent Justin Irish told Fox News that the formal letter of reprimand represented an “escalated response” along the “continuum of possible repercussions of progressive discipline.”
He added, “Although this conduct is concerning, it does not merit such an extreme result as termination. The district reached its decision in consultation with legal counsel, the teacher’s union and applicable state laws. The district expects all employees to adhere to professional standards and will continue to work with all staff to ensure that those standards are met.”
