Wanted: Winter Haven Man Violently Beats, Strangles Woman. Now Is On The Run

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – Winter Haven Police need your help locating a man who they say is armed and extremely dangerous after beating and strangling a woman Friday.

On May 31, 2024, Winter Haven Police responded to a residence that was a neighbor to the victim who had run to their home crying for help and covered in blood.

The victim reported that 46-year-old Randy Leon Gillis was enraged when he began to strike her multiple times in the face.

He then strangled her until she lost consciousness.

When she came to, she realized she was covered in blood and ran to the neighbor, who called the police. The victim received numerous serious injuries and is currently being treated at a local hospital, police say.

Gillis took her vehicle and drove to Highlands County, where he has family. The Highlands County Sheriff’s Office recovered the abandoned vehicle; however, Gillis has not been located.

Randy Leon Gillis is considered armed and extremely dangerous. He is known to carry firearms and knives.
