POLK COUNTY, Fla. – A Polk County woman with a significant legal cloud hanging over her head is now facing extradition back to the Hoosier State after Polk County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) deputies discovered she was already in their custody.

On Monday, April 28th, PCSO received notification that 51-year-old Jennifer Benningfield of Mulberry, Indiana, had three active warrants for her arrest originating out of Dearborn County, Indiana.

The warrants detailed charges, including violation of probation, neglect of a dependent, and failure to appear in court on an original charge of domestic battery with a child present.

Much to the surprise of authorities, locating Benningfield proved to be a remarkably simple task. Deputies quickly learned that Ms. Benningfield was already an inmate at the Polk County Jail. She had been recently booked on separate charges of domestic battery and drug offenses within Polk County.

PCSO will now facilitate her transfer back to Dearborn County, Indiana, where she will face the charges outlined in the outstanding warrants.
