Michael Allison, 37, of Palm Coast, apparently thought he could outsmart the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) on a hot afternoon last Friday by playing a game of hide-and-seek in his attic.
Unfortunately for him, the attic wasn’t the best hiding spot, especially during a Florida summer.
Deputies were on the hunt for Allison, who was wanted on a felony violation of probation warrant for Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance and Driving with a Suspended License. They spotted him entering a home on Piedmont Drive and announced their presence and purpose, but Allison decided to take the ‘high road’ – literally.

After several unsuccessful attempts to coax him out, deputies entered the home and eventually located Allison sweating it out in the attic.
A 30-minute negotiation ensued, after which a parched and defeated Allison finally descended from his self-made sauna. He was taken to the hospital for dehydration treatment before being booked into the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility.

“This guy decided to try and hide in the attic, during a Florida summer. If you’re a criminal in Flagler County, there’s nowhere to hide from the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office,” said Sheriff Staly. “I hope he enjoyed his attic sauna but now he’s in the Green Roof Inn. I commend our deputies for talking him out of a hot attic peacefully before he hurt himself in the heat.”
