Alhagi Gassim Conteh, 30, of Alexandria, Virginia, was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for distributing counterfeit oxycodone pills containing fentanyl.
Court documents revealed that between February and April 2024, Conteh obtained and distributed nearly 4,000 counterfeit oxycodone pills laced with fentanyl. Conteh, a convicted felon, sourced the pills from a supplier in Fredericksburg who was receiving packages of up to 30,000 fentanyl pills at a time.

In April, law enforcement executed a search warrant at Conteh’s residence, seizing approximately 500 fentanyl pills, cocaine, ammunition magazines, a digital scale, and a pill press.
U.S. Attorney Jessica D. Aber and DEA Special Agent in Charge Jarod Forget announced the sentencing, which was handed down by U.S. District Judge Leonie M. Brinkema. Assistant U.S. Attorney Kristin S. Starr prosecuted the case with assistance from the Washington/Baltimore High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) task force.
