Fairfax County Police Department responded to a domestic assault call. An investigation revealed that Caballeros had assaulted and strangled the victim, who is the mother of his child. During the altercation, the victim’s 13-day-old infant was dropped. Caballeros then fled the scene on foot, taking the infant with him.
A Good Samaritan subsequently found the infant abandoned in a pile of snow. The victim was hospitalized with serious injuries resulting from the attack.
Walton County Sheriff’s Office deputies located and arrested Caballeros around 11:00 AM on Thursday as he was leaving an apartment in Santa Rosa Beach. Deputies conducted a felony traffic stop after confirming Caballeros was a passenger in a vehicle. He was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Walton County Jail.
