Democratic Sen. Tim Kaine on Sunday objected to the term “invasion” as millions of illegal immigrants have stormed the southern border since President Joe Biden took office.
He also claimed that using such a word to describe the current situation at the border would inspire domestic terrorism, while he ignored the “migrant crime” wave running rampant in state after state.
The Virginia Democrat, who served as Hillary Clinton’s running mate in her 2016 loss to Donald Trump, appeared on Fox News on Sunday.

At one point, host Shannon Bream asked Kaine about a video that went viral last week. It showed more than 100 illegal immigrants overrunning Texas National Guard troops as they sought to repair a section of the razor wire.
New York Post reporter Jennie Taer, who was at the scene near El Paso, described it as “absolute chaos” in a post to X on Thursday.
“I don’t think it’s an invasion. It is an immigration crisis. It’s a national security issue. But I think you’ve got to be careful throwing around words like invasion,” said Kaine.
“It was that kind of wording that led the deranged guy to go shoot up the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh, killing folks a couple of years ago, and I think that kind of rhetoric is irresponsible,” he added.

Kaine was referring to Robert Bowers, who killed 11 people at a synagogue in 2018. Bowers had espoused anti-Semitic rhetoric online and had accused a Jewish group of helping “invaders” to enter the country.
Kaine then asserted that Congress missed a chance to fix the border situation by not following a Democratic-supported bill that would have allowed up to 1.8 million illegals a year to enter the country before any action was taken to shut down the border.
Kaine then blamed Trump for the bill’s failure, saying the presumptive Republican nominee was willing to let more illegals and fentanyl cross the border than “find a solution.”
