TAMPA, Fla. – Hillsborough County Fire Rescue released a video Tuesday showing the cause of the devastating Mamajuana Caf tiki hut fire.
The video reveals a sequence of events, with employees innocently using sparklers in a celebration that led to the fire.
The employee extended the sparkler over her head, unintentionally igniting the thatch roof of the tiki hut. Despite their efforts, the employees could not contain the fire due to its rapid growth.

Firefighters battled the blaze using handlines and set up aerial operations to suppress the fire, which they accomplished in 25 minutes.
Occupants were able to evacuate the area safely, and there were no injuries to first responders or civilians.
