A domestic dispute in Florida escalated into a fatal officer-involved shooting on Saturday, April 5, 2025, when a man armed with a machete charged at responding police officers.
Boynton Beach Police Department (BBPD) officers responded to a report of a domestic dispute between a father and an adult son near the 600 block of Northeast 20th Lane in Boynton Beach at approximately 10:45 a.m. Saturday.

Upon arrival, officers encountered 31-year-old Edenson Jules of Boynton Beach, who was involved in the dispute at Intracoastal Park and was armed with a machete. Officers attempted to de-escalate the situation, issuing verbal commands for Jules to drop the machete.

According to the BBPD, Jules ignored the officers’ commands and challenged them, saying, “Shoot, why you don’t want to shoot?” before charging at the officers with the machete.
In response, the officers discharged their firearms, striking Jules. Multiple officers on the scene immediately began administering first aid.
Boynton Beach Fire Rescue Department transported Jules to Delray Medical Center, where he later died.

In accordance with BBPD policy, the four officers involved have been placed on non-disciplinary administrative leave pending the investigation.
