A tragic shooting marred the final night of Tuskegee University’s 100th homecoming celebration early Sunday morning. The incident resulted in one fatality and multiple injuries.

The victim, who was not a student at the university, has not yet been identified. Several Tuskegee University students were among those injured and are currently receiving medical treatment at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika and Baptist South Hospital in Montgomery.

Authorities have not disclosed the exact number of injured individuals or the extent of their injuries. The circumstances surrounding the shooting, including the identity of the shooter and the motive, remain under investigation.

Social media footage captured the chaos as panicked attendees sought shelter from the gunfire. The university has confirmed that law enforcement has secured the scene and the Alabama Bureau of Investigation has taken over the investigation.

Additionally, a shooting near Tennessee State University claimed one life and injured several others.
