PALM HARBOR, Fla. – With coffee, juice, scrambled eggs, and French toast consumed, a couple of hundred guests settled in to enjoy a media day presentation at Innisbrook’s Edinburgh Hall. Then, with the euphoria of a hole-in-one, or for us duffers, making par, the confetti flew.
The occasion was the announcement of a five-year extension between the Palm Harbor-based golf tournament and Valspar, a Sherwin-Williams Company brand. The extension, effective next year and running through 2030, guarantees a continued commitment that began in 2014. This year’s event is March 17-24.

“The continued support of Valspar allows for Copperhead Charities to make a meaningful charitable, economic and tourism impact in our Tampa Bay community,” said Rondé Barber, tournament general co-chair and head of Copperhead Charities, the event’s fundraising arm. “We are honored to be Valspar’s partner and to keep the world’s finest professional golfers competing in our community.”
The Valspar Championship, which debuted on the PGA Tour schedule in 2000, features a purse of $8.7 million, with $1.72 million and 500 FedExCup points awarded to the winner. Last year’s winner, Peter Malnati, will return to defend his title.
