PALM HARBOR, Fla. – It comes as no surprise that the Valspar was recognized for what it offers to fans of all ages. After all, there is so much to see and do before a patron might even consider taking in the golf, which is pretty darn good as well.
The 2023 Valspar Championship, won by Taylor Moore, was honored earlier this month by the PGA Tour as being the “Most Fan-First Event.” The tournament, which is played at Innisbrook Resort in Palm Harbor, was the recipient of one of 16 “Best Of” awards the Tour dished out at its annual meetings.
The award was based on everything from ticket prices, transportation accessibility, food offerings and social media engagement. Held March 13-19 at the resort’s Copperhead course, the 2023 event hosted a celebration for Rondé Barber being inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The former Bucs defensive back is the Valspar Championship’s general chair.

The tournament also hosted a concert with Darius Rucker, which was free to all Saturday ticketholders and attracted more than 15,000 fans.
“I don’t know if there is an award on the list that we would rather have won,” said tournament director, Tracy West, in a release. “Ever since Valspar became our title sponsor, we have been dedicated to enhancing the fan experience. We could not have been so honored without their full-fledged commitment to this and the many top-flight activations they have sponsored.”
The Valspar, billed as “The Most Colorful PGA Tour Tournament in the World,” is sure to deliver again in 2024. Scheduled for March 18-24, the event will include a concert with Cole Swindell.
