PASCO COUNTY, Fla. – A 74-year-old Valrico man tragically lost his life in a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 75 after another driver lost control of their vehicle.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), a 25-year-old Sanford man driving a southbound Infiniti Q50 lost control of his car near State Road 56. The Infiniti veered into the median, striking a guardrail before ricocheting back onto the highway. The driver escaped unharmed, exiting his disabled vehicle and moving to safety.
Moments later, a Ford E250 van, driven by the 74-year-old Valrico man, collided with the stranded Infiniti.

The impact caused severe injuries to the driver of the van, who was rushed to a local hospital but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.
The driver of the Infiniti was uninjured in the incident. FHP is investigating the cause of the initial crash and whether any charges will be filed.
The southbound lanes of I-75 were temporarily closed for investigation and cleanup, causing significant traffic delays. Authorities urge drivers to exercise caution and remain vigilant on the roadways.
