TAMPA, Fla. – The University of South Florida Bulls football team is packing their bags for paradise! After securing bowl eligibility with a 6-6 season, the Bulls have been selected to play in the Hawai’i Bowl on Christmas Eve.
USF will face the San Jose State Spartans from the Mountain West Conference in the 21st edition of the Hawai’i Bowl. The game kicks off at 8 p.m. ET (3 p.m. local time) on Tuesday, December 24th at the Clarence T.C. Ching Athletics Complex in Honolulu. Fans can catch the action on ESPN.
This marks the Bulls’ second consecutive bowl appearance under head coach Alex Golesh and their 12th overall in 24 seasons of FBS football. It’s also a milestone for the program, as it will be their first-ever game in Hawai’i and the farthest the team has ever traveled for a game.
“We are excited for the opportunity to compete in the Hawai‘i Bowl against a very good San Jose State team,” Golesh said. “Hawai‘i is a unique and beautiful destination that our players are excited to experience, and we look forward to productive bowl practices and a great game as we continue to build our program.”

The Bulls finished the regular season strong, winning four of their last six games. They have a history of success in bowl games, having won seven of their previous 11 appearances. This matchup will be the second meeting between USF and San Jose State. The Bulls won the first encounter in 2017.
San Jose State also enters the bowl game with momentum, having recently defeated Stanford. This will be their 14th bowl appearance in program history.
The Hawai’i Bowl promises an exciting matchup between two competitive teams and a memorable experience for the players and fans alike.
