HARTFORD CONN. – On a chilly and rainy Saturday at Rentschler Field in East Hartford, Connecticut, the USF football team returned from a two-score deficit with 12:45 remaining to defeat UConn 24-21.
The Bulls extended their winning streak to nine games over UConn, a former BIG EAST and American conference member with USF, as they played in their 19th meeting between the two programs and their first since 2019.
The Bulls scored the final 14 points in the fourth quarter to improve to 13-6 all-time against the Huskies and 6-4 in East Hartford.

Nay’Quan Wright led the Bulls with his third-straight 100-yard rushing performance of the year, reaching the milestone by halftime and finishing with a career-high 186 yards and two touchdowns on 26 carries.
With 203 yards passing, 61 yards rushing, and a touchdown, QB Byrum Brown led two lengthy scoring drives in the fourth quarter, including the game-winning 90-yard drive.
Throughout the game, he found Sean Atkins eight times for 57 yards and Michael Brown-Stephens nine times for 92 yards.
After eight games to begin the 2023 season, USF will have a bye week before playing again at Memphis on November 4.
