The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that it conducted precision airstrikes on Saturday, December 21 (Yemen time) targeting key facilities operated by Iran-backed Houthi forces in Sana’a, Yemen. The strikes targeted a missile storage facility and a command-and-control center located in Houthi-controlled territory.
The deliberate operation aimed to disrupt and degrade Houthi military capabilities, particularly those involved in attacks against U.S. Navy warships and commercial vessels in the Southern Red Sea, Bab al-Mandeb Strait, and the Gulf of Aden.
CENTCOM’s actions were part of ongoing efforts to ensure the security of international shipping lanes and safeguard regional stability.

During the operation, CENTCOM forces also intercepted and destroyed multiple Houthi-launched unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and an anti-ship cruise missile (ASCM) over the Red Sea. These threats were neutralized before they could pose any danger to U.S. or allied forces, civilian shipping, or infrastructure.
The airstrikes involved coordinated efforts between U.S. Air Force and Navy assets, including F/A-18 fighter jets. This comprehensive response highlights the U.S. military’s capability to act decisively against threats in the region.
CENTCOM emphasized that the operation underscores its commitment to protecting U.S. and coalition personnel, regional partners, and the free flow of commerce through international waters. The command reiterated that these actions are part of a broader strategy to address the ongoing threat posed by Houthi forces and their backers.

“These strikes send a clear message: hostile actions against U.S. personnel, partners, and maritime assets will not be tolerated,” CENTCOM stated in its release.
This latest development reflects heightened tensions in the region and the persistent challenges posed by Iran-backed groups like the Houthis. The situation remains under close monitoring by CENTCOM and its coalition partners.
