U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) forces conducted a precision airstrike in Northwest Syria on February 21st, eliminating a key leader of the al-Qaeda affiliated group, Hurras al-Din.

The airstrike targeted Wasim Tahsin Bayraqdar, a senior leader responsible for facilitating operations within the terrorist organization.

This operation underscores CENTCOM’s ongoing commitment to disrupting and degrading terrorist networks in the region and beyond.

“We will relentlessly pursue and destroy terrorist threats, no matter their location, in order to protect our homeland and our allies and partners,” said Gen. Michael Erik Kurilla, commander, U.S. Central Command.⁩

CENTCOM says the successful airstrike demonstrates the continued resolve of the U.S. military to combat terrorism and protect national security interests. CENTCOM remains vigilant in its efforts to counter terrorist threats and maintain stability in the region.
