PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. – St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport (PIE) has resumed normal operations following a bomb threat that prompted the grounding of all flights on Friday afternoon.
According to an update released by the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office Saturday, detectives with the Threat Management Division are continuing their investigation into the written bomb threat discovered on an Allegiant flight destined for Cincinnati, Ohio.

The original incident unfolded Friday, at approximately 4:51 p.m. Authorities were alerted to the threat, which was found in the lavatory of the Allegiant aircraft while it was on the tarmac. All passengers and crew members were safely evacuated from the plane.
Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office bomb dogs, assisted by teams from surrounding agencies, conducted thorough sweeps of all aircraft at the airport. As a result of these safety protocols, all flights were grounded for several hours.

The latest update from the Sheriff’s Office confirms that the scene has been cleared and there are currently no safety concerns at PIE. Normal flight operations resumed last night.
While the investigation remains active, authorities have not yet identified a suspect.
