TAMPA, Fla. – After battling a massive fire for over nine hours, Hillsborough County Fire Rescue (HCFR) has finally brought the blaze at a CubeSmart storage facility under control.
The three-alarm fire, which broke out around 9:27 p.m. on Tuesday, March 4th, at the CubeSmart storage center on N. 56th Street, sent thick smoke billowing into the night sky and required a significant response from firefighters.
Crews from HCFR and Temple Terrace Fire Rescue worked tirelessly through the night to contain the fire, which had spread through numerous storage units. Firefighters faced challenges in accessing the deep-seated blaze within the units.

Approximately three hours into the firefighting efforts, one civilian was transported to the hospital with burn injuries. The individual is reportedly in stable condition. No injuries to first responders were reported.
Incident command declared the fire under control at 6:30 a.m. Wednesday morning. Crews remain on scene to extinguish any remaining hotspots. The HCFR Fire Investigations Unit is now working to determine the cause of the fire.

Firefighters are currently battling the blaze and working to gain access to dozens of units to fully extinguish the flames. The fire has reached a three-alarm status, indicating its significant size and complexity.
Thankfully, there have been no reported injuries to either first responders or civilians.
Over 30 units from HCFR are currently on scene working to contain the fire. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time and will be investigated once the fire is extinguished.
