ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The City of St. Petersburg has announced the return of its Neighborhood Tree Matching Mini-Grant Program for a third funding cycle, offering up to $10,000 in grants to neighborhood and business associations for tree planting projects. Applications are now open and will be accepted through September 9, 2024.
The program is designed to enhance community spaces by providing shade trees in approved rights-of-way and street-facing front yards. In previous cycles, the initiative has successfully facilitated the planting of over 70 shade trees across various St. Pete neighborhoods.

Key Dates and Eligibility:
- Application Deadline: September 9, 2024, at 5 p.m.
- Tree Planting Period: October and November 2024
To be eligible, applicants must:
- Be a registered neighborhood or business association with the City of St. Petersburg.
- Have no outstanding grants with the City, except for awards from the previous round of the Tree Matching Mini-Grant Program.
- Complete tree planting projects within 12 months.
- Ensure trees are planted in approved rights-of-way or street-facing private front yards, with no utility conflicts.
- Use only approved tree species.
- Obtain letters of support from relevant City departments for planting on City-owned property.
